Abstract
During the first year in office of the far-right political force La Libertad Avanza, in a context of regressive and anti-popular policies, the science and technology sector in Argentina suffered an unprecedented systemic involution. Based on the characterization of the pattern of expanded financial valorization and the neocolonial alignment with the bloc led by the United States in a geopolitical and geoeconomic field of hegemonic conflict, the impact on the science and technology sector caused by DNU 70/2023 and the Large Investment Incentive Regime (RIGI), which is included in Law 27,742/2024, is analyzed. The characterization is completed with the description and evaluation of the initiatives of accelerated defunding, degradation and disarticulation of research and development institutions, the dismantling of strategic projects and the destruction of productive capacities during 2024.
