Abstract

This paper presents a brief history of the Argentine national pension system, highlighting the most relevant elements that shape the present-day system. It describes the current configuration and the changes made by the current government. It concludes with guidelines for short-term parametric reforms to improve its long-term sustainability by incorporating greater equity.
